NOTE: We previously provided links to a number of different video clips posted on YouTube - which we wanted to bring to your attention. However, it has become increasingly difficult to isolate a specific clip link, without other YouTube based 'advertising' for other video clips which might be less than suitable, or just depraved, or disgusting. As such, we may make reference to a YouTube source, and include the video clip's title, but we will not provide a link to that location.

The UK Assemblies of God: A Different Movement with the Same Name

-- New Article by Philip L. Powell --

SO THE PLAGUE WAS STAYED . . . (Num 25:8) . . . SO THE LORD WAS INTREATED …
AND THE PLAGUE WAS STAYED (2 Sam 24:25).

That a spiritual plague has broken out in the Church there can be little doubt. It is everywhere. The True Church is being decimated while the false Church multiplies through Church Growth, sensational appeal to the so called supernatural and by other means. The most recent demonic expression of The Plague is manifest through Todd Bentley and his so called Florida Healing Revival, the latest disclosures about which reveal it as a conception from hell to take the “ministry” into expressions of violence.

Every PLAGUE among God’s ancient people was caused by five things which Paul alludes to in 1st Corinthians 10:5-14 - LUST, IDOLATRY, IMMORALITY, TEMPTING GOD, and RESENTFUL MURMURING. There Paul tells us that the record of these things are “for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.” In other words they relate to OUR time—the END TIMES.

The prophetic Psalm 106 summarises the judgments of God relating to the departures of His people. Verses 28 to 31 are particularly pertinent to our time and the situation we face:

Psalm 106: 28-31: They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. (29) Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them. (30) Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. (31) And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

BAALPEOR and PHINEAS

Baal-peor was an idol of the Moabites, in whose worship females prostituted themselves.

The people of God joined in their devotions with the Moabites and shared in the rites of idolatrous worship (Numbers 25). The Psalmist passes over many other instances of a similar kind selecting this because of its special significance and prophetic application to the end time. What Phinehas did summarises the way every plague among God’s ancient people was terminated and it symbolizes the way we should now deal with this latest demonic attack that is spreading like wild fire among the churches throughout the world—in Wales (UK) and in Victoria (Australia) and in many other places. It is a demonic plague with a particularly virulent and violent “theology” as the many news items on the internet, e.g. compare here and here and here testify.

Just as the cause for the outbreak of the plague among God’s people is always the same – LUST, IDOLATRY, IMMORALITY, TEMPTING GOD, and RESENTFUL MURMURING - so the remedy and removal is also always the same — ISOLATION, DEDICATION, IMPARTIAL JUDGMENT, TOTAL OBEDIENCE without fear or favour. What Phinehas did is remembered as an act of righteousness to “all generations for evermore.”

Today’s situation is so serious it calls for a whole “generation” of “Phinehas-like” people to stand up and say to those who introduced this thing, and/or who supported and promoted it, beginning with the equally virulent deception known as Toronto and Pensacola:

We will not be a part of your organisation or what you are now doing until and unless you isolate yourself from it, openly admit that you are responsible and publicly REPENT of what you did in opening the Church to this demonic deception.

My new article, THE UK ASSEMBLIES OF GOD - A Different Movement with the same Name seeks to discuss some of the history and to attribute blame where it was due. Below is the first paragraph ... we hope you read on.

Having grown up as the son and nephew of British Assemblies of God pastors, [born 1939] and having entered the Assemblies of God ministry as a student-pastor [circa 1959 in Brisbane, Australia] and a credentialed AoG-UK minister [circa 1961], becoming General Secretary of The Australian Assemblies of God [1989-1992] after pastoring in Britain (16 years) and Australia (10 years), I and others found ourselves in a quagmire. The original Assemblies of God had never been a denomination with a hierarchy. It was designed as a movement of autonomous local congregations held together by common doctrine and biblical practice with “One Lord, one faith, one baptism” (Ephesians 4:5). However things had changed and with the election of carnal ambitious men as part of the hierarchy, over the years, the emphasis had moved away from Bible based doctrine and holy living to pragmatism and a plethora of false teaching with inevitable consequences.

I witnessed one deception and counterfeit “revival” after another bearing no resemblance to the biblical Pentecostalism I knew from my childhood. Doctrines alien to the Word of God, that traditional Pentecostals would have dismissed as heretical, were being embraced and promoted. For me it started with the 2nd visit of Mr Paul (later changed to “David” in typical cultic fashion) Yongii Cho to Australia [Adelaide circa 1979] . He taught “incubating” as part of his Fourth Dimension heresy.

General Issues

Brian Houston associating with Robert Schuller

-- Sent out by Global Pastors Network --
"This coming January 22-24, 2007, the Robert Harold Schuller Forum for Possibility Thinking Leadership - Faith Forward - will converge in sunny Garden Grove, California.
God is raising up new pastors, solidifying contemporary pastors and calling forth pastors from the more classical churches to pour their hearts into the younger church.
I challenge you to think seriously about attending this important event to listen to such dynamic speakers such as Pastor Ed Young, Jr., Pastor Brian Houston, Bishop Eddie Long, Bishop Kenneth Ulmer, Dr. Todd Hunter, Dr. Eddie Gibbs, Dr. Neil Clark Warren, Dr. Leonard Sweet, Dr. Michael Guillen, Bobbie Schuller, Dr. Bob Roberts, Jr., Dr. Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D. and many more. You'll have the opportunity to listen and discuss the relevant issues facing the future of the church."

< Editorial Note: Brian Houston's association with Schuller is not that surprising when he aligns himself with such heretics as Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer et al. It is but the next stage in his denial in, not just the Word of the Lord, but the Lord of the Word. >

Purpose Driven Issues

POLICE REMOVE PURPOSE-DRIVEN CHRISTIAN PROTESTER FROM PUBLIC PROPERTY WHO WAS PICKETING LEE MCFARLAND'S ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH

PRESS RELEASE
OCTOBER 11, 2006
JAMES SUNDQUIST
ROCK SALT PUBLISHING

A Christian advocate and opponent, opposing Rick Warren's Purpose-Driven teachings, was forced by the Surprise, Arizona Police to evacuate the PUBLIC PROPERTY in front of Pastor Lee McFarland's, Radiant Church Assembly of God church in Surprise, Arizona. Lee McFarland is a top lieutenant in Rick Warren's Global Peace Plan who just returned from the Far East on an extensive tour with him. Radiant Church called the police on Bear Frankson who was preaching against Purpose-Driven teachings on public property, exercising his U.S. Constitutional right of FREE SPEECH. The police arrived and Mr. Bear had done his homework. He had gone to the city and obtained the plot map of Surprise, Arizona property boundaries of private vs. public property and even measured the distance the law allowed him to speak. Mr. Bear provided evidence to the police who subsequently told him he was not in any violiation of the law and was not trespassing private property. However, on the evening of October 7, Mr. Bear showed up again on public property in front of Radiant Church which is Purpose-Driven waving the billboard poster placard which read:

Who's Driving the Purpose Driven Church? That They Would Choose To Be Deceived on Purpose Which Results In A Time of Departing

Pastor Lee McFarland's church called the police again. This time three police cruisers and one police van showed up. Mr. Bear was not in any violation of the law again. But this time the police told him if he did not leave the PUBLIC PROPERTY he would be arrested. The excuse that the sergeant gave Mr. Bear was that the traffic cop from El Mirage Police Department could not do his job because two rubber-neckers were looking at Mr. Bear and were distracted. So Mr. Bear left, but has indicated that he shall return!

Islamic leader condems conversion death (11 October 2006)
"A MUSLIM leader has condemned the death of a woman in a Gold Coast family's domestic dispute, believed to have been sparked by a daughter's wish to convert from Islam to Christianity..."

You Tube videos of Nation of Islam minister, Louis Farrakhan, preaching at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Lithonia, Georgia, USA.
Despite the truth in Farrakhan's words, and the ease of use of Biblical Scripture to play to the Baptist congregation, it must be remembered that Islam teaches that the Bible is corrupt, therefore, why would a Muslim quote it - if not to play to the crowd. Furthermore, concerning contracts and covenants, which Farrakhan specifically addresses, it is worth remembering that Islam's creator, Muhammad, broke covenants with peoples when it suited his purpose; for Farrakhan to criticise "white" America's track-record in keeping contracts/covenants (with America's Indians, as he does, and does so correctly I must say) but yet follows the teachings and religions of a man who did the same is hypocritical. Furthermore, it is worth remembering that Yasser Arafat when criticised by Muslims/"Palestinians" about peace-treaties (eg the Oslo Accord) or temporary truces he agreed to, with Israel, used as his defense that it is but "Banu Qurayza" to him. That is, just as Muhammad made a peace treaty with the Jews of Banu Qurayza (and others for that matter) but broke it, such that all the men of Banu Qurayza were killed and the woman and children became slaves, so too is his peace-treaty with Israel ... that is, he can break it when it suits him. Signs of the Times - Blair praises Islam in journal of the one world Council on Foreign Relations (by Tony Pearce, Light for the Last Days)

Blair praises Islam in CFR journal.
Tony Blair has written an article entitled ‘A Battle for Global Values’ in the January – February edition of the journal ‘Foreign Affairs’ which is published by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). As I pointed out last month the CFR is a secretive organisation in which world leaders come together in the cause of global government.

He began the article by stating that the war on terrorism is ‘a battle of values, and one that can only be won by the triumph of tolerance and liberty. Afghanistan and Iraq have been the necessary starting points of this battle. Success there, however, must be coupled with a bolder, more consistent, and more thorough application of global values, with Washington leading the way.’

He then went on to make an astonishing statement about Islam:
‘To me, the most remarkable thing about the Koran is how progressive it is.

I write with great humility as a member of another faith. As an outsider, the Koran strikes me as a reforming book, trying to return Judaism and Christianity to their origins, much as reformers attempted to do with the Christian church centuries later. The Koran is inclusive. It extols s cience and knowledge and abhors superstition. It is practical and far ahead of its time in attitudes toward marriage, women, and governance.

Under its guidance, the spread of Islam and its dominance over previously Christian or pagan lands were breathtaking. Over centuries, Islam founded an empire and led the world in discovery, art, and culture. The standard-bearers of tolerance in the early Middle Ages were far more likely to be found in Muslim lands than in Christian ones.’

The idea that the Koran was trying to reform Christianity and Judaism and return them to their origins could not be more wrong. Islam seeks to replace Christianity and Judaism and denies the central beliefs of Christians. According to the Koran anyone who believes that God is a triune unity and that Jesus is the Son of God will be tormented in hell (al-Maa’idah 5:73, Maryam 19.34-38 and 88-93), whereas the Bible teaches that those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God will be saved for eternal life in heaven.

According to the Koran Jesus did not die on the cross (and therefore was not resurrected) but ‘it appeared so to them the resemblance of Jesus was put over another man (and they killed that man).’ al-Nisaa’ 4:157-158. The Bible teaches that ‘Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried and that he rose again on the third day according to the scriptures. … And if Christ is not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain’. I Corinthians 15:3-4,14.

In comparison with the Roman Catholic Church which Tony Blair upholds as authentic Christianity, medieval Islam may have appeared more tolerant. But that is only a comparison of two dark houses neither of which have the light of the Gospel in them. In fact early Islam was only tolerant for the short time that Mohammed was preaching as a minority faith in Mecca and his opponents were stronger than he was. Once he had the upper hand Islam became fiercely intolerant of opposition as is testified by early accounts written by Muslims of the Islamic conquest of Arabia.

Muhammad taught his followers to oppress or kill non-Muslims. Generally, Jews and Christians were allowed to continue to practice their faiths, provided they paid a special tax. This tax is Jizya, a tax revenue given to the Muslims as a sign of their status as ‘dhimmis’ (protected people under Islam). If the Jews and Christians refused to pay this extortion tax they would have to convert to Islam or be killed. Idolaters or pagans had to convert to Islam or be killed. Generally they didn’t have the option of paying the tax. Here is the verse that teaches Muslims to oppress Jews and Christians:

‘Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, (which is Islam that abolishes all other religions) of the people of the Book, (meaning the Jews and the Christians) until they pay the Jizya (the tax imposed upon them) with willing submission and feel themselves subdued. (with humiliation and submission to the government of Islam.) 9:29 .’ (Commentary in parenthesis is from the Tafsir Al-Jalalein. i.e., Al-Jalalein Interpretation of the Koran.)

Muhammad ordered his followers to fight those Christians and Jews to convert them or pay the Jizya, and if they don’t convert or pay, do you think that he told the followers to let them go in peace? It is very clear: convert... or pay with submission ... or die.

Here is the verse in the Quran that teaches Muslims to attack and kill pagans:

‘When the sacred months are over, slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them. If they repent and take to prayer and render the alms levy, allow them to go their way. God is forgiving and merciful.’ Sura 9:5

Tony Blair aspires to be a mediator in the Middle East conflict. If this is the level of his understanding of a major component of that conflict it is yet another sign of the dangerous self delusion which is contributing to the weakness of the west in the face of the Islamic world.

The Muslim World League called for legal action against those who abuse Islam and its Prophet Muhammad and Islamic sanctities, at local and international courts of justice. The conference titled ‘In Defence of the Prophet’ called upon Islamic countries and governments to stand united to defend the Islamic faith and its Prophet. It denounced the smear campaigns to tarnish the image of the Prophet and urged Muslims to make all-out efforts to project the true picture of Islam and the great divine teachings of the Prophet. Its spokesman, Al-Turki called upon Western countries to protect human rights of Muslim communities and take action against those who create unnecessary fear about Islam by linking it with terrorism and violence.

If applied internationally this would make it illegal to criticise Islam or its prophet, thus denying freedom of speech world wide. It would appear that the application of this in Europe is not as improbable as we might think. A French teacher, Robert Redeker wrote an article ‘Face aux intimidations islamistes, que doit faire le monde libre ?’ (In the face of intimidations by the Islamists what should the free world do?). This was published in the leading newspaper, Le Figaro in September 2006. Since then he and his family have secreted away on advice of the French government to a safe house for fear of death by fatwa.

Having been posted online, the article was read all across France and in other countries as well, and was quickly translated into Arabic. Denunciations of Redeker’s ‘insult of the prophet’ spread across the Internet. Within a day after publication, the piece was being condemned on al Jazeera by the popular on-air preacher (and unofficial voice of Osama bin Laden) Sheikh Youssef al-Qaradawi. In Egypt and Tunisia, the offending issue of Le Figaro was banned.

As for Redeker himself, he soon received a large number of threats by letter and e-mail. On an Islamist website, he was sentenced to death in a posting that, in order to facilitate a potential assassin’s task, also provided his address and a photograph of his home. Fearful for himself and his family, Redeker sought protection from the local police, who transferred the case to the national counter-espionage authorities. On their advice, Redeker, his wife, and three children fled their home and took shelter in a secret location. Since then, they have moved from city to city, at their own expense, under police protection.

Even more disturbing than this incident has been the reaction of the media and educational establishment in France. France’s two largest teachers’ unions, both of them socialist, stressed that ‘they did not share Redeker’s convictions.’ The leading leftist human-rights organizations went much farther, denouncing his ‘irresponsible declarations’ and ‘putrid ideas.’ A fellow high-school philosophy teacher, Pierre Tévanian, declared (on a Muslim website) that Redeker was ‘a racist’ who should be severely punished by his school’s administration. Among members of the media, Redeker was scolded for articulating his ideas so incautiously. On the radio channel Europe 1, Jean-Pierre Elkabach invited the beleaguered teacher to express his ‘regret.’ The editorial board of Le Monde, France’s leading newspaper, characterized Redeker’s piece as ‘excessive, misleading, and insulting.’ It went so far as to call his remarks about Muhammad ‘a blasphemy,’ implying that the founder of Islam must be treated even by non-Muslims in a non-Muslim country as an object not of investigation but of veneration.

So much for ‘liberté, égalité and fraternité.’ How much longer do we have for freedom of speech here in Britain as well? Notice that there has been no reporting of this incident in our press or TV.
